Do your goals include networking with colleagues in the earthquake hazard
mitigation field? Do you seek guidance on collaborative research proposals?
Then SAVE THE DATES and find out how three NHERI Equipment Facilities (EF)
can enhance your research. Lehigh
<https://lehigh.designsafe-ci.org/facility/overview/>, UC San Diego
<https://ucsd.designsafe-ci.org/>, and UC Berkeley’s SimCenter
<https://simcenter.designsafe-ci.org/> are planning two sequential
workshops, each 1.5 days, hosted first onsite at NHERI at Lehigh (September
2019) and three months later hosted onsite at NHERI at UC San Diego (December
2019). Future users of these facilities may attend either or both on-site
workshops to learn more about the EFs capabilities, network with colleagues
in the earthquake hazard mitigation field and ultimately seek guidance on
planned research proposals.

The goals of this workshop series are to:

·   Present the capabilities of the NHERI at Lehigh, NHERI at UC San Diego and UC
Berkeley (NHERI-SimCenter) facilities

·   Provide researchers with physical tours and demonstrations of the
NHERI at Lehigh and NHERI at UC San Diego facilities and capabilities, and
hands-on examples of the use of the NHERI-SimCenter latest capabilities

·   Present example research projects conducted using these facilities &
provide suggestions on proposal preparation and planning to future users

·   Support research teams planning proposals using all three or two of the
three facilities

·   Discuss grand challenge earthquake engineering research topics and
stimulate collaboration amongst attendees to develop larger collaborative
multi-university proposals

Registration information will be released in July 2019. Meanwhile, SAVE the
DATES and consider attending one or both of the following:

*Workshop 2: December 16-17, 2019 at UC San Diego *



Financial support for travel will be available, with priority given to
early career faculty and new users who plan to submit NSF proposals that
intend to use the NHERI EFs or to use data accessible through DesignSafe.
