The one-and-one-half day workshop takes place May 23rd (full day) and 24th (morning) at the NHERI Experimental Facility at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL.</p><p style="box-sizing:border-box;margin:0px 0px 10px;color:rgb(51,51,51);font-family:"Helvetica Neue",Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif;font-size:14px">Find details and <a href="https://www.designsafe-ci.org/learning-center/training/workshops/joint-uf-uw-2019-workshop/" target="_blank">register online on DesignSafe</a>, the NHERI cyberinfrastructure.<br></p><p style="box-sizing:border-box;margin:0px 0px 10px;color:rgb(51,51,51);font-family:"Helvetica Neue",Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif;font-size:14px">The Powell Family Structures and Materials Laboratory at the University of Florida is among the seven designated shared-use Experimental Facilities under NSF’s Natural Hazards Engineering Research Infrastructure (NHERI) program. </p><p style="box-sizing:border-box;margin:0px 0px 10px;color:rgb(51,51,51);font-family:"Helvetica Neue",Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif;font-size:14px">The UF NHERI EF is primarily dedicated to studying extreme wind events and offers a suite of experimental apparatus for wind load quantification, system response and destructive testing. The University of Washington hosts the post-disaster RAPID response facility, providing investigators with equipment, software and support services needed to collect, process and analyze perishable data from natural hazards events. The interactive workshop includes a UF EF tour and RAPID equipment demonstration. There will be hands-on training in the capabilities and services offered by the UF and UW facilities -- as well as training in the process for obtaining NSF funding for EF and RAPID use. The workshop provides opportunities for attendees to network with fellow researchers and initiate proposals on-site. We will cover participant domestic travel and two nights of lodging expenses.
