Assistant/Associate/Full) to lead the research operations and coordinate experimental

Center is home to the Large High-Performance Outdoor Shake Table (LHPOST6), the
largest 6-DOF shake table in the US, and the Blast Simulator Facility, among
other structural and geotechnical testing facilities. <span></span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in;font-size:12pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman""><span> </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in;font-size:12pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman"">The selected candidates will contribute to and support the
laboratory’s research mission to provide the structural engineering community
with a world-class testing facility producing high-quality experimental data as
well as consultation on experimental design and training/education. Both
positions require expertise in structural dynamics, experimental mechanics, and
controls, particularly in structural and/or geotechnical engineering and seismic
qualification testing. The candidate must demonstrate knowledge in the
operation of servo-hydraulic control systems and data acquisition/instrumentation
systems (including sensor technology). Both candidates will be trained to
operate LHPOST. <span></span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in;font-size:12pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman""><span> </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in;font-size:12pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman"">These positions will involve the supervision of one or more development
engineers and/or technicians at the Center. The project scientist position
requires a doctoral degree or in civil engineering, mechanical engineering,
structural engineering, mechatronics, or a related field. Advanced degrees or equivalent
experience in similar fields is desired for the R&D Engineering
candidate. The review of applications will begin on May 15, 2021, and will
continue until the positions are filled. The level of appointment is
commensurate with qualifications and salary based on UC pay scales. <span></span></span></p>
