Hello Dr. Amini,

Thank you very much for writing to me. I would recommend using the latest version of OpenFOAM (ESI version – openfoam.com) rather than the foundation version (openfoam.org). I do think that OlaFlow does a good job by the ESI version already has much of these capabilities in-built into the actual OF. This could reduce a lot of work to compile OlaFlow/Wave2Foam itself.

Best Regards
Ajay

Subject: New solver in OpenFOAM
Hi Ajay,

I hope you are doing well.
I am Mehrshad, postdoc scholar at Oregon State University. I plan to use OpenFOAM implemented in DesignSafe as a new module in the class that I am teaching this term. The class is a graduate-level course that covers the fundamental of prediction of wave forces on different structures.
I have read the CFD Notebooks that you developed for DesignSafe. However, I was wondering if there is a way to compile new solvers such as Wave2Foam or Olaflow for the OpenFOAM that developed in DesignSafe. These two solvers (particularly Wave2Foam that I am familiar with) are very suitable to simulate the wave-structure interaction. I could not find any tips on the DesignSafe website.

I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks.

Best,
Mehrshad
