[Ef] Action Required: Planning and preparation for upcoming Publish Your Data event for EF researchers

Hi All,

This is a reminder if you have not already sent the info we requested below, please do so by the deadline, end of day Friday, September 24.

  *   Please provide us with a list of PI's and their email address for academic projects that have experiments already completed during NHERI. You can also include current/pending projects that will be producing data within the next 6 months. If there was a grad student or post-doc that was very active on the project please include them as well, as they are the ones who know the most about the data and will likely be the ones to curate and publish the data. ACTION: Please send to Tim/Natalie
  *   Do you have any research group that might be exemplars we could point to that have used your facility and have published in DesignSafe that we could use for others to follow? ACTION: Please send to Tim/Natalie

Thanks, Natalie, for sending this along.

We believe it is a critical time for NHERI to accelerate data publishing for experimental work coming out of the EFs.  DesignSafe is ready, willing, and able to help your researchers through the curation process, and towards that end we are planning to initiate these Publish your Data! events. These online webinars will help researchers understand the curation process and remove some of the "mystery" surrounding data publishing.

We sincerely believe that these efforts to accelerate data publishing will be more successful if they also involve you (i.e., PIs, co-PIs, and staff at the EFs ), because researchers will take data publishing more seriously if they see that it is valued by the entire NHERI network.

I will Ask Julio to add this topic to the agenda at the next NHERI Council meeting so we can discuss it further.

Hi All,

In an effort to get the research community more aware of capabilities that we have for them to publish their data and enable data reuse, we are building on the success CONVERGE's Lori Peek has had with "Publish Your Data Events" and we would like to do the same for the EF community.

We need your help to find out who we should be reaching out to:

  *   Please provide us with a list of PI's and their email address for academic projects that have experiments already completed during NHERI. You can also include current/pending projects that will be producing data within the next 6 months.   *   We are planning webinars with about 25 attendees at each event; We will provide an overview of what the event will cover, duration, and how many projects we will work with for a given event. We will hold additional events based on demand. After we have the webinars, if PI's want individual meetings we will accommodate them.
  *   We plan to invite Joy Pauschke to give the welcome and talk about why she thinks this is important.
  *   We want a representative from each EF (preferably the EF PI, alternatively a co-PI) to join the webinar, this will show the researchers that we value publishing.
