Colleagues,
I think that the NTPC had a difficult time rejecting our proposal. But
it was not accepted at the
end. Perhaps, we should step back for a year, since we have had two in a
row. Any ideas on this are
welcomed.
Thanks to all of you that contributed to this effort. I will notify the
authors of the proposed papers as well.
I am not sure if there is still time to submit individual papers.
Julio

Dear Julio Ramirez,
The National Technical Program Committee (NTPC) met in Orlando, Florida
on August 8 & 9 to finalize the technical program for Structures
Congress 2019. NTPC was faced with the very difficult task of selecting
the best submissions to provide a balanced program that includes career
development sessions, interactive, innovative, Codes and Standards,
Research, Natural Disasters, Education, Building, Bridges, Blast,
Forensics, Materials, Non-Building, Non-Structural and more. Every year
we receive many submissions that cannot be accommodated into the program
due to space or duplicate topics. Less than half of the 900 plus
submissions can be accepted for presentation during the conference.
In selecting the final abstracts and sessions for the program, the
committee used five basic criteria: (a) the technical merit, (b) quality
of presentation, (c) innovative topics with practical applications, (d)
encourage interactive, dynamic programs (e) goals of NTPC including the
need to create a diverse and attractive program for a wide audience.
On behalf of the NTPC I regret to inform you that your submission Full
Session with Abstracts (499638) Earthquake and Windstorm Research in the
Natural Hazards Engineering Research Infrastructure was not selected for
Structures Congress 2019. As noted above, the committee had a very
difficult time selecting the presentations. We understand your
disappointment, but we had many good submissions and we could not
accommodate them all. *_Please make sure you let all your authors,
presenters and moderators know the results as this e-mail goes only to
the submitter._*
We would like to thank you for your interest and looking forward to your
continued participation in SEI. We encourage you to submit session
proposals and papers for future events for consideration by the NTPC.
Sincerely,
G. (Greg) Soules, P.E., S.E., F.SEI, F.ASCE
NTPC Chair
