[Nheri-council] SimCenter Symposium

Dear Council Members,

I would like to alert you to the upcoming SimCenter Symposium (Nov 4,
Austin TX).  This will be a great venue to showcase your work and to
network with others in the Natural Hazards arena.  The registration
deadline is coming up in about a week (Sep. 9) as we hope to see you or
your co-workers there.   Pasted below is more detailed information.

Dear Colleagues in Natural Hazards Research,



We invite and encourage you to attend the *2022 NHERI SimCenter Symposium*
<https://simcenter.designsafe-ci.org/>, which will be held *on November 4,
2022 in Austin, TX, at the Texas Advanced Computing Center*.  This
Symposium will be an important opportunity to learn about the SimCenter
simulation tools and to engage with others doing simulation-based natural
hazards research.   More information on the event can be found at this LINK

Abstract proposals for presentations or posters at the Symposium are being
accepted through *September 9.* Abstracts that include research facilitated
by SimCenter tools, datasets, or other NHERI resources are preferred, but
any compelling, forward looking, simulation-based, natural hazards research
will be considered.  Funding is available to support a limited number of
attendees, but to be considered you must register by September 9.

*.* This is the preferred accommodation as we plan to offer shuttle
services between this hotel and TACC. The deadline to reserve a room at the
Aloft Hotel with this group booking is October 10.



*Additional information*:

1. SimCenter Working Groups will meet on the *afternoon of November 3*, the
day before the Symposium.  These are open meetings and all Symposium
attendees encouraged to participate.  More information on the meetings can
be found on the registration form.

2. Requests for travel assistance will be considered; more information can
be found on the registration form.

3. Abstracts and travel assistance requests do not require registration
fees to be paid in advance. Full registration must be completed by October
10, after notifications of travel assistance and abstract acceptance have
been sent.
