Dear NHERI Council -
It was so good to see you all on Thursday! As I mentioned during our call, I'm so excited to share that our ninth CONVERGE Training Module is live - this one focused on reciprocity in hazards and disaster research. I hope you will please share this with your colleagues and students and consider joining us for the upcoming demonstration webinar. Thank you so much for all of your support!
CONVERGE Reciprocity in Hazards and Disaster Research Training Module and Demonstration Webinar
The NSF-funded NHERI CONVERGE facility, headquartered at the Natural Hazards Center at the University of Colorado Boulder, is so pleased to announce the release of the Reciprocity in Hazards and Disaster Research Training Module<https://www.designsafe-ci.org/community/news/2022/february/nheri-converge-training-module-reciprocity-hazards-disaster/>. This module provides an overview of what reciprocity means, why it is important for conducting ethical research, and how researchers can effectively practice reciprocity in their work. You can register and access the free module here: <http://converge-training.colorado.edu/courses/cultural-competence/> https://converge.colorado.edu/training-modules.
To learn more, please join us Thursday, February 10, 2022, from 1:00-1:30 p.m. MT for a live webinar where our team will provide a demonstration of the training module. To register for the upcoming webinar, please visit: https://converge.colorado.edu/webinars/converge-reciprocity-training-module-a-demonstration-webinar/.
This new module is part of a larger series designed to accelerate the education of a diverse hazards and disaster workforce. The new module, like the others in the series, concludes with a 10-question quiz. Upon successful completion of the quiz, users receive a certificate, which is worth one contact hour of general management training<https://converge.colorado.edu/resources/training-modules/continuing-education-credits> through the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) certification program. These modules can be useful for classroom assignments as well as other activities. Please see the CONVERGE Annotated Bibliographies<https://converge.colorado.edu/resources/training-modules/annotated-bibliographies> for further reading and the Assignment Bank<https://converge.colorado.edu/resources/training-modules/assignment-bank/> for sample assignments for educators.
You can sign up for additional free resources and updates at the CONVERGE website at: https://converge.colorado.edu/signup. Thank you!
