Since the last Council meeting, two updates and one request:<br>
<br>
1. The group selected by the Council to work with FBE (Arindam
Chowdhury, Forrest <br>
Masters, Joel Conte, Julio ramirez and Jim Ricles) developed a
proposed editorial for the <br>
NHERI collection (first attachment for comment). The second
attachment is a sample of the <br>
editorial for the Mega Quakes collection in FBE (see Page 3 of the
pdf) for your reference. <br>
The editorial of the NHERI collection will be used also on the
collection webpage to<br>
illustrate the call for papers (the call is a formality in the case
of our collection).<br>
<br>
2. You may recall that due to potential COI, the group selected by
the Council as topic<br>
editors (see 1.) will not be able to handle the reviews of the 12
papers to be submitted for<br>
the collection. Instead a Topic Editorial Board to handle reviews
will be established, and I <br>
will serve as the lead, but will not be handle reviews, only
coordination with FBE and the topic<br>
editors. Based on Council recommendations received, I have submitted
to FBE the following<br>
individuals to serve on the Topic Editorial Review Board: <br>

<li>Wind and RAPID: Frank Lombardo, UIUC (<a class="moz-txt-link-abbreviated" href="mailto:lombaf@illinois.edu">lombaf@illinois.edu</a>)</li>
<li>Earthquake: Marcial Blondet (<a class="moz-txt-link-abbreviated" href="mailto:mblondet@pucp.edu.pe">mblondet@pucp.edu.pe</a>), and Carlos
Ventura (<a class="moz-txt-link-abbreviated" href="mailto:ventura@civil.ubc.ca">ventura@civil.ubc.ca</a>)</li>
<li>DesignSafe-CI and SimCenter: Katrin Beyer at EPFL
(<a class="moz-txt-link-abbreviated" href="mailto:katrin.beyer@epfl.ch">katrin.beyer@epfl.ch</a>)</li>
</ul>
3. <b>Request: </b>I will need your paper abstracts and
corresponding author <b>before our next Council Meeting<br>
on September 5</b>. These should be maximum 350 words, and will
not be published so will not be set <br>
in stone. <br>
