[Announce] Reminder: NHERI seeking nominations for the User Forum committee

Greetings,

The National Science Foundation is supporting research on Natural Hazards under the Natural Hazards Engineering Research Infrastructure (NHERI) program. The success of the NHERI program hinges on building a community of interested practitioners, researchers, students, educators and policy makers that is fully engaged in increasing the resilience of the civil infrastructure and preventing natural hazards from becoming societal disasters. One of the means of building and engaging this community, and bringing your input into the activities of NHERI, is through the User Forum committee (UF).

The UF is a NHERI-wide group focused on providing the NHERI Governance with specific input on community user satisfaction, priorities and needs relating to the use and capabilities of NHERI. More information about this important committee can be found at:

The UF committee is composed of representatives from the broad scientific and engineering communities served by NHERI, who are elected by the user community to serve at least a one-year term, with the possibility of reappointment to a second consecutive year. We seek nominations of individuals to serve on the UF such that they provide a broad representation of the NHERI community; self-nominations are acceptable. The members of the UF committee may not be from a NHERI awardee institution.



We seek representatives from the following communities:

1.      Earthquake

2.      Wind

3.      Coastal engineering

4.      Geotechnical

5.      Lifeline infrastructure

6.      Social sciences and policy




7.      Concrete construction

8.      Steel construction

9.      Masonry construction

10.  Wood construction

11.  Architectural (building envelope)
