*DESIGNING A SUCCESSFUL REAL-TIME HYBRID SIMULATION*

MECHS SERIES: HYBRID SIMULATION 101

*December 14 | 2pm – 2:45pm CT*

Real‐time hybrid simulation (RTHS) is an effective and versatile tool for
the examination of complex structural systems with rate dependent
behaviors. To meet the objectives of such a test, appropriate consideration
must be given to the partitioning of the system into physical and
computational portions (i.e., the configuration of RTHS). This webinar will
explain the steps to take for choosing the partitioning to use in RTHS, a
fundamental step towards successful RTHS implementation. As a case study,
this methodology will be demonstrated using the recent Benchmark
control problem for real-time hybrid simulation
<https://mechs.designsafe-ci.org/resources/projects-data-benchmarks/>
which has been recently presented to the RTHS community to enable
community-wide examination to compare and contrast various methods for the
design of a robust RTHS controller.

The webinar is intended for both new and experienced researchers interested
in exploiting real-time hybrid simulation methods.

*This webinar is part of a series, Hybrid Simulation 101, being organized
by the Multi-hazard Engineering Collaboratory on Hybrid Simulation (MECHS)
<https://mechs.designsafe-ci.org/> virtual community.*
