WE-UQ – Wind Engineering with Uncertainty Quantification<https://simcenter.designsafe-ci.org/research-tools/we-uq>

<https://simcenter.designsafe-ci.org/research-tools/we-uq>
The WE-UQ Tool is an application to determine the response, including uncertainty quantification, of a structure to wind loading. The application quantifies the uncertainties in the predicted response, given that the properties of the building and the wind loads are not known exactly, and given that the simulation software and the user make simplifying assumptions in the numerical modeling of the structure. The community-driven software capitalizes on various types of wind loading options to characterize the event.

Wind loading options include: a) input from a database of wind tunnel testing, b) input from user-generated stochastic values, c) results from a computational fluid dynamic model, or d) user-defined forces from the user’s own wind computations. Structural responses include interstory drifts, peak floor accelerations, and pressure on the building.

As with all of the SimCenter's research tools<https://simcenter.designsafe-ci.org/research-tools/overview/>, the user has the option to execute simulations locally or perform computationally demanding problems on high-performance computers at the NHERI cyber-infrastructure provider, DesignSafe.

The NHERI Computational Modeling and Simulation Center (SimCenter) provides researchers access to next-generation computational modeling and simulation software tools, user support, and educational materials needed to advance the capability to simulate the impact of natural hazards on structures, lifelines, and communities. The SimCenter’s cyber-infrastructure framework allows collaborative simulations from various disciplines to be integrated, while accounting for pertinent sources of uncertainty.
