DesignSafe and the NHERI SimCenter are pleased to announce the 2022 DesignSafe Summer Academy and the NHERI Hackathon that will take place from July 25-29, 2022, at the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) at the University of Texas at Austin.  We encourage attending these events in person to get the most out of the activities, and some domestic travel funding will be available.  Attending in-person offers the full benefit of interacting with other researchers and experts at TACC and natural hazard engineering. We will also offer a limited version of the program online.


The DesignSafe Academy (DSA) will be held on 25 and 26th July 2022. The DSA will include hands-on training on DesignSafe tools and will explore several real-world case studies.  It will enable graduate students and postdocs working on natural hazards to use DesignSafe in new and innovative ways. Additionally, it will allow researchers to work closely with DesignSafe/TACC staff to enable their workflows and learn about exciting advancements in artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, and data analysis facilitated by DesignSafe. Attendance will be limited to ensure meaningful interactions between participants and staff.


The 2022 NHERI Hackathon will be held on 27 - 29 July 2022. The NHERI Hackathon will involve participants working in teams to solve specific natural hazards problems using NHERI data, DesignSafe computational resources, and SimCenter tools.  The Hackathon is an exciting opportunity to improve knowledge of NHERI and DesignSafe/SimCenter tools, discover new research workflows, and explore exciting areas.
