Hi, Ellen:
I will not be able to attend the User Requirements Workshop on January 11-12, 2016, as I will be on annual leave that week and the following week. I am checking to see if others from NSF might be able to attend. I do plan to attend the pre-workshop webinar on October 26 from 4-5 pm ET.
Also, can we set-up a time to talk about how your award is going, e.g., did all the NEEShub get transitioned, etc. Possible times for me are
Monday, October 19 any time
Tuesday, October 20, 12 pm - 3 pm
Wednesday, October 21, any time after 10:15 am
Monday, October 16 any time
Thursday, October 29, any time
Also, one issue that came up from one of the NHERI EFs (Lehigh) is how they will name the facility in their advertising, e.g., "NHERI Experimental Facility...." Other than including the NSF award number, NSF has no preference for how they name their facility, logo, etc. but some commonality among NHERI awardees might be useful; perhaps you might have some ideas for them; I suggested to Lehigh that they bring it up at the webinar tomorrow. You may recall that for NEES they used nees at OregonState, etc.

Subject: NHERI CI User Requirements Workshop
Dear Colleagues:
I am pleased to invite you to the User Requirements Workshop for DesignSafe, the cyberinfrastructure (CI) for NHERI that is being developed by a team headquartered at the University of Texas. The workshop will take place in Austin, Texas on January 11-12, 2016. The main goal of the User Requirements Workshop is to bring together researchers from the natural hazards engineering community to inform the CI development process. This workshop is an important part of this process because it will help ensure that the functionalities provided by the CI will enable the next generation of research focused on engineering against the natural hazards of earthquakes and windstorms. In addition to the workshop, we are planning pre-workshop webinars for the workshop attendees that will present details about our vision for the CI, explain the CI development process, and provide background about the workshop.
Please RSVP for the Workshop by sending an email to rsvp at designsafe-ci.org<mailto:rsvp at designsafe-ci.org>. If you are able to attend the workshop, in your email please also confirm your attendance at one of the webinars listed below. More information about the Workshop and Webinars will follow.
