[Rsvp] NHERI User Requirements Workshop

Cox, Dan Dan.Cox at oregonstate.edu
Wed Oct 14 08:42:43 CDT 2015

Ellen,

I can't attend the pre-workshop because of teaching (10/22) and travel (10/26) but probably Pedro and/or Chris can join.

For the 1/11-12 workshop in Austin, one or two from our EF will attend (cox and/or lomonaco and/or maddux). Tbd in early Dec.

Chris plans to attend the geo/structures congress in Phoenix and can give a presentation about our EF.

Dan

Subject: NHERI User Requirements Workshop

Dear Colleagues:

A User Requirements Workshop for DesignSafe, the cyberinfrastructure (CI) for NHERI is being planned for January 11-12, 2016 in Austin, Texas. The main goal of the User Requirements Workshop is to bring together researchers from the natural hazards engineering community to inform the CI development process. This workshop is an important part of this process because it will help ensure that the functionalities provided by the CI will enable the next generation of research focused on engineering against the natural hazards of earthquakes and windstorms. In addition to the workshop, we are planning pre-workshop webinars for the workshop attendees that will present details about our vision for the CI, explain the CI development process, and provide background about the workshop.

As a NHERI EF we plan to integrate your requirements through direct collaboration with you, but you are also invited to send a representative to the User Requirements Workshop using funding from your NHERI grant. If you plan to participate in the workshop, please RSVP by sending an email to rsvp at designsafe-ci.org<mailto:rsvp at designsafe-ci.org>. If you are able to attend the workshop, in your email please also confirm your attendance at one of the webinars listed below. More information about the Workshop and Webinars will follow.
