To all:

I just saw that you are interested in ideas for technology transfer.

Charles Roeder and I have developed a new slab-column connection. It uses a flat RC slab (either with or without PT) with concrete filled-tube columns. As such, it does not fit neatly into AISC or ACI (I am on both the AISC composite committee and the ACI seismic committee). But it has potential to improve structure performance as it is capable of achieved drifts of approximately 6% without strength loss.

I understand that I might not be your target researcher but I would like to speak with you about the connection and get your ideas of how I might be able to develop and implement codified expressions (we have a comparison with a slab using stud rails). I would be more than happy to put together a presentation. This work was funded by NSF and is part of our VES project.

Here is a post from LinkedIn to give you an idea of what we developed:

Finally I want to say that I had no idea that this committee existed but I am very excited that it does. One of my primary goals with my research is to have the results used in practice. I look forward to hearing from you.

Dawn
