OpenSees & DesignSafe: A Walkthrough of all Available Options from Analysis to Post-Processing
OCTOBER 31, 2018
1PM TO 2PM Central Time
Abstract
The Open System for Earthquake Engineering Simulation (OpenSees) is a software framework for simulating the static and seismic response of structural and geotechnical systems. It has advanced capabilities for modeling and analyzing the nonlinear response of systems using a wide range of material models, elements, and solution algorithms. One sequential (OpenSees EXPRESS) and two parallel interpreters (OpenSeesSP and OpenSeesMP) are available on DesignSafe. Several options are currently available to easily use those applications through the cyberinfrastructure.
This webinar will provide an overview of each interpreter, along with example scripts and step-by-step procedures on how to properly utilize each available computational option. Post-processing strategies will also be analyzed and discussed.
Presenter
Dr. Maria Giovanna Durante is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Texas at Austin in the Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering. She received her Bachelor (2008) and Masters (2011) in Civil Engineering from University of Sannio, Italy. In 2015 she obtained her PhD in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Naples Federico II. Her research focuses on numerical and analytical methods applied mainly to Seismic Soil-Structure Interaction problems.
