Interacting with Partner Datasets in the Cloud
FEBRUARY 27, 2019
11AM TO 1PM Central Time
Presenters: Scott J. Brandenberg, Silvia Mazzoni, and Paolo Zimmaro
This webinar will present two different projects that facilitate interaction with partner datasets hosted in DesignSafe.
(1) The Next Generation Liquefaction (NGL) project includes a relational database of field case histories involving earthquake-induced liquefaction. The database is replicated in DesignSafe, and can be queried using Python scripts in Jupyter notebooks. The webinar will briefly discuss the database, and demonstrate sample queries, and several tools we have developed to visualize site investigation data.
(2) The Southern California Earthquake Center (SCEC) tool is a self-contained ground-motion portal that takes full advantage of the Jupyter-notebook capability of integrating HTML, python, widgets, and matplotlib. Through interactive search capabilities, it provides access to a suite of SCEC Broadband Platform records. It is a great example of the type of user interfaces that can be developed using a Jupyter notebook.
