Leveraging DesignSafe with TAPIS
December 17, 2020
1PM TO 2:30PM Central Time
Julia Looney
Pedro Arduino, PhD

About the Tutorial
The TAPIS Platform is an open source, science-as-a-service API platform for powering your digital lab. Tapis allows you to bring together your public, private, and shared high performance computing (HPC), high throughput computing (HTC), Cloud, and Big Data resources under a single, web-friendly REST API. DesignSafe is built upon the TAPIS framework and is the key to taking advantage of everything DesignSafe has to offer. This webinar will help the DesignSafe community have a better understanding of TAPIS, how TAPIS is integrated into DesignSafe, and how TAPIS can expand your DesignSafe enabled research.

About the Presenters
This webinar will be presented by Julia Looney of TACC, who is a member of the Cloud and Interactive Computing group at TACC and key developer to TAPIS platform and DesignSafe. She will be joined by Pedro Arduino.

Pedro is a professor at the University of Washington Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering. His primary research interests are in computational geomechanics with emphasis in constitutive modeling of soils, finite element analysis, and hazard analysis. Pedro is a member of the DesignSafe team as well as the SimCenter, the computational modeling and simulation leg of NEHRI.

The SimCenter provides next-generation computational modeling and simulation software tools, user support, and educational materials to the natural hazards engineering research community with the goal of advancing the nation’s capability to simulate the impact of natural hazards on structures, lifelines, and communities.
