The Natural Hazards Center has partnered with the Federal Emergency
Management Agency (FEMA) and the National Science Foundation (NSF) to
create the Mitigation Matters Research Program which will provide small
grants, typically between $1,500 to $2,500, to researchers to conduct
studies on hazards mitigation.

The program prioritizes funding for submissions that propose new research
on the social, behavioral, and economic aspects of mitigation. Those that
feature interdisciplinary approaches addressing the intersection between
humans, hazards risk, and the built environment will also be prioritized
for funding.

*Submission Deadlines:* Grant proposals are evaluated and awarded twice
annually. Upcoming submission deadlines are *October 1, 2019* and *March 1,
2020 - 7pm Eastern time.*
