Dec 15 & 16: NHERI meetings with European (EUCENTRE) and Japanese (NIED/E-Defense) partners

In December 2020, the NHERI NCO has scheduled collaborative meetings with
two international partners. All interested are welcome to attend.

The third meeting under the NHERI and EUCENTRE Foundation
<https://www.eucentre.it/> collaboration will be held via remote
participation on Dec. 15th from 10:30 to 13:10 ET. During the meeting, four
ongoing coordinated collaborations and several possible topics for
coordinated research will be presented.



Two planning meetings already have been held under the NHERI-EUCENTRE
collaboration. The first was held in October 2018, at the Embassy of Italy
in Washington, DC, to discuss the details of the new research
collaboration. The second meeting took place at the EUCENTRE in Pavia,

*4th NHERI-NIED/E-Defense Research Collaboration Meeting*

Natural hazards researchers are welcome to attend the fourth research
meeting between NHERI and Japan’s National Research Institute for Earth
Science and Disaster Resilience (NIED <https://www.bosai.go.jp/e/index.html>
).



The virtual meeting will cover current and upcoming collaborations between
NHERI and NIED/E-Defense, which operates the 3D Full-Scale Earthquake
Testing Facility, called E-Defense
<https://www.bosai.go.jp/e/facilities/edefense.html>.



The session will cover details of the Third Test of the Tokyo Metropolitan
Resilience Project (Steel Structure) and the full-scale spine test by
NSF-funded researchers under this collaboration on the E-Defense shake
table. Meeting participants will also receive information on aspects and
explore possible opportunities to collaborate with our colleagues from
Japan on the Fourth Test (Non-Structural Elements) of the Tokyo
Metropolitan Resilience Project. Updates will be provided on the
collaboration during the First (Wood Structure) and the Second (Reinforced
Concrete Structure) Tests previously conducted under the same collaboration.
