Proposed wind and wind-water testing facility: MsRI conference report open for public comment

The NSF award “*MsRI-EW: Conference to Identify Research Infrastructure
Concepts for a National Full-Scale 200 mph Wind and Wind-Water Testing
Facility; Virtual*” (Award # 2034656) supported an engineering-social
science conference to identify research infrastructure concepts for a
national, full-scale, 200 mph wind and wind-water testing facility capable
of supporting research and testing beyond the wind speeds and scales
achievable with current testing facilities in the United States. The
two-day conference was led by FIU and held virtually on August 20-21, 2020
due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.


The conference included 50+ participants from research and engineering
applications communities from universities, businesses, professional
associations, and government. The conference Outcomes Report draft,
attached, is hereby disseminated to the natural hazards research community
using the NHERI DesignSafe-CI Announce email list.


Please send your comments on this draft Outcomes Report to Dr. Arindam
Chowdhury (chowdhur at fiu.edu) by December 15, 2020. The draft report will be
revised based on your comments and submitted to NSF as a conference
deliverable.
