NHERI Council:
I am following up on the subject matter, as we agreed at yesterday's
Council meeting, and
have the following two items for your attention.
*Ellen:* the Council agreed with the timeline for submitting the
manuscript of January 2020. This
would allow FBE to have the review done and the collection published by
July 2020. Is DesignSafe
ok with this? Your facility was not represented at the meeting, and this
is your opportunity to express
your view.
1. *Topic Editorial Board*- these are individuals who will handle the
editorial work on the
manuscript that you will submit for the E-book on NHERI. These will
consist of 4 to 6 members,
including myself.
I will serve as the lead Topic Editor, so that I am able to coordinate
the submissions and
have full access to FBE management platform for the collection. I will
not be involved in handling the
review process of the manuscripts, but through the management platform,
I will be able to see all
submitted manuscripts and their progress in review. A manuscript
submitted by the NCO will be
reviewed by an External Editor from FBE.
/*Would you please provide possible name(s) to serve as topic editors?*/
The members of
the board should be free of conflict of interest with NHERI. Conflicts
of Interest (COI) to be avoided
between the editors and authors to consider when nominating members of
the Topic Editorial Board
can be:
* Shared Institutions
* Collaborations in the past two years (co-authoring, project
collaboration)
* Close personal/family relationships.
I will compile your input and propose a group to the Council before
submitting to FBE. If we do not
provide names FBE would propose editors from their broader editorial group.
2. *FBE invoicing*: /*please provide me with *//*the name and contact
information at your institution*/ of
the representative that should receive the invoice for the 15% of $1900
for your manuscript publication
in this open source journal.
I have a call scheduled with FBE on *August 7*. It would be great to
have the two items ready by then.
Look forward to hearing from you,
Thanks!
Julio
