[Nheri-council] NHERI Collection in Frontiers in Built Environment (FBE)

Good afternoon,

Since the last Council meeting, two updates and one request:

1. The group selected by the Council to work with FBE (Arindam 
Chowdhury, Forrest
Masters, Joel Conte, Julio ramirez and Jim Ricles) developed a proposed 
editorial for the
NHERI collection (first attachment for comment). The second attachment 
is a sample of the
editorial for the Mega Quakes collection in FBE (see Page 3 of the pdf) 
for your reference.
The editorial of the NHERI collection will be used also on the 
collection webpage to
illustrate the call for papers (the call is a formality in the case of 
our collection).

2. You may recall that due to potential COI, the group selected by the 
Council as topic
editors (see 1.) will not be able to handle the reviews of the 12 papers 
to be submitted for
the collection. Instead a Topic Editorial Board to handle reviews will 
be established, and I
will serve as the lead, but will not be handle reviews, only 
coordination with FBE and the topic
editors. Based on Council recommendations received, I have submitted to 
FBE the following
individuals to serve on the Topic Editorial Review Board:

  * Wind and RAPID: Frank Lombardo, UIUC (lombaf at illinois.edu)
  * Earthquake: Marcial Blondet (mblondet at pucp.edu.pe), and Carlos
    Ventura (ventura at civil.ubc.ca)
  * DesignSafe-CI and SimCenter: Katrin Beyer at EPFL (katrin.beyer at epfl.ch)

3. *Request: *I will need your paper abstracts and corresponding author 
*before our next Council Meeting
on September 5*. These should be maximum 350 words, and will not be 
published so will not be set
in stone.
