Hi Dan,
Cliff Braverman asked me to develop a 1.5 minute script (attached) on the NHERI initiative. I used the topics you emailed Cliff as a guide:

Why is natural hazards research important?
              Increasing frequency of impactful hazards (wind storms especially)
              Built up infrastructure near high risk areas
Why does it need to be shared use?
              Bring together the best scientific minds from different disciplines
              Effectively address multi-hazard research questions
Why our facilities?
              World-class facilities, some are the largest or only in the world of their kind
              Researchers at these facilities are leaders in their fields
Past, present, and future:
Heritage of the work, showing the investment from the NSF
What NHERI is doing now
What's the future, and tying it in with the NSF 10 big Ideas
