The origin of this was probably a call the SimCenter had with nsf last week, where they encouraged us to get involved in this meeting as it apparently deals with the issue of how to continue software centers beyond initial funding.

The workshop that Joy is a follow-on to a 2017 workshop that brought together the CI components from different MREFC projects to “enable direct and synergistic interactions among the NSF large facilities and the CI communities to jointly address the CI needs as well as the sustainability of the CI of existing and future large facilities.” I was on the organizing committee for that workshop, Tim Cockerill and Dan Stanzione also attended from DesignSafe, and a couple of the EFs were represented.

But I can’t be sure, because she did not ask us about it before sending out this email. Perhaps it is worth asking clarification from Joy.
