Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to follow up on Ellen's email with an encouraging note to take advantage of this opportunity!! As she mentioned, we had our first ever Publish Your Data! event on Tuesday for social and behavioral scientists, and it was truly amazing. The researchers who joined us are going to be publishing a variety of data types, research instruments, protocols, and even reports via DesignSafe. We also are going to name CONVERGE Data Ambassadors - these will be the people who (a) publish data and/or research instruments on DesignSafe and (b) commit to sharing information about NHERI with colleagues in the field. We think that this is a ways to really grow the impact and create webs of influence across the community.

If you are interested in learning more about how we framed the Publish Your Data event, you can see more here! https://converge.colorado.edu/data/events/publish-your-data

I hope you might consider signing up for a meeting with Ellen's team so you can learn more and establish a Data Ambassador program too! DesignSafe ran this with the utmost rigor and everyone learned so much!

Kindest regards, always,
Lori

Subject: [Nheri-council] Meeting to discuss joint DesignSafe-EF activities

Hi all:

I was hoping to mention this during the call today, but we ran out of time. So here it goes...

When DesignSafe was first awarded 5 years ago, we took the initiative to visit each EF to learn more about your data, processes, etc. That was a useful exercise that helped us as we developed the Data Depot and data models over our first few years.

Since our visits with you in ~ 2016, our interactions with you have predominantly been through the NHERI Council meetings. These meetings have been useful, but have focused on the broader activities of the network. To deepen the collaborations between DesignSafe and the EFs, we would like to identify joint activities that will be beneficial to all of us and will expand our impact. For example, we could organize "Publish your Data!" events for each EF, similar to the event we did with CONVERGE just this week.

Towards that end, we would like to organize a meeting that includes the leadership teams (PIs/co-PIs) of DesignSafe and the EFs where we can brainstorm ideas for these activities. Please be on the look out for a request from Natalie Henriques to indicate your availability during this Fall for a meeting. And feel free to email me if you have any specific thoughts or questions.

Thanks,
Ellen
