Attached is the first draft of the news item related to the NSF DLC 
below. As we agreed yesterday, please
add your individual contributions on how your component can support 
research in response to the DLC. Also
your comments to improve the rest of the draft are welcomed.

I would appreciate your comments soon, as the timeline from the Chair of 
the Council is less than a week away.
