NHERI-NIED/E-Defense research planning meeting #3

Colleagues,


I am pleased to announce that the third collaborative meeting between NHERI
and the NIED/E-Defense teams have been scheduled on Dec 4-5, 2019, in Kobe,
Japan. It will be held in conjunction with the test at E-Defense of the
reinforced concrete structure, part of the Tokyo Metropolitan Resilience

Prof. Kusunoki from Tokyo University is the lead researcher for this test.
In conjunction with the test, the team from Japan has organized a Blind
Prediction Competition (see attachment).

The test is scheduled during the first day of the meeting. An agenda for
the meeting is being developed with our partners from Japan.

There is funding from NSF available to support a small group of U.S.
participants. Priority will be given to individuals who have submitted
and/or are working on submitting proposals under this collaboration. A few
spots are reserved for early career faculty and researchers from
underrepresented groups.

Primary investigators that currently have an award to use E-Defense cannot
be supported for travel through this funding.
