[Ef] Rescheduled - DesignSafe EF Bi-Monthly Mtg

Hello Everyone,
Attached are a couple of spreadsheets with published project information and also private project information.

For the published projects, the tab “Projects by Facility” has quarterly data from late 2020, the beginning of our 5-year renewal awards, through Sep 30, 2022, so you can see the increase over time in number of published projects. Note that you may find your facility not only near the top of the list, but depending how the PI entered your facility information or if you are part of a multi-facility project, you may find additional published projects further down the list.

For the private projects, which are in the My Projects directory, these may or may not have published some data from that project, and we do our best to identify which facility they are using. This is done via some text mining, because these projects aren’t required to identify a facility. Facility selection is done during the curation/publication process. As a result, this list is much shorter than I had hoped – note the Column K has the facility affiliation and the sheet is sorted on this column. It would be helpful if we had a list of projects and PIs from the facilities that we could use to increase the likelihood of identifying which of the private projects likely are affiliated with research performed at a facility. I’m not sure if the NCO scheduling has this information or not, or if it’s easier to get it from you.

Let’s postpone today’s meeting for 2 weeks so we can all be well-prepared for an interactive discussion.

For 2023, I would like to focus on outcomes and results by having a standing agenda item for our bimonthly meetings regarding progress and status of data curation and publishing, and number of published projects in DesignSafe. I will provide updated statistics from the published projects, and we will be also gathering and sharing information with you on projects in My Projects  that have not published but have self-identified as Experimental and doing work with an EF.

We’d like to hear from you regarding any interactions you have had or are continuing to have with those users regarding their projects, and how we can all continue to encourage them to publish. As you may recall, Oregon State started working with their users and encouraging publication and have had significant increase in published datasets from their facility, and we provided a workshop to provide guidance on the publication process.
